Shooting range operations generate airborne dirt and lead particles as guns are fired. The lead particulates in the air can be dangerous to the patrons of the ranges and need to be properly captured and removed. Air Filters Incorporated manufactures a complete line of high efficiency filters for the multi-stage filtration required to scrub the air within the firing range. - SuperFlo Max™ Mini Pleat Filters are designed with five time the media area when compared to standard pleated panel filters. These ASHRAE filters offer even air flow, filter strength and long service life. They are ideal for applications that require medium to high filtration efficiency.
- Sure Cell™ V-Cell Filters replace conventional bags and rigid filters with high efficiency, durable filters. Designed for pre-filtration for HEPA filters and HVAC filters, our V-cell filters provide efficiency ratings from 40-95%, and can be constructed to meet ASHRAE, DOP, HEPA or ULPA standards.
- BlackBox™ 5V-cell box style filters are constructed using a high efficiency micro-fiberglass media and a rugged lightweight plastic box style frame providing superior dust holding capacity and low pressure drop. Designed to perfectly for use in air handler systems that use filter banks and/or side access housings. The BlackBox can be used as a direct replacement for standard aluminum separator HEPAs or bag filters.
- Astro-Pak™ Extended Surface Rigid Cell Filters are filters are designed to withstand high velocities with minimum pressure drop. Manufactured using a durable galvanized frame with synthetic or fiberglass filter media to provide maximum performance in demanding environments.
- Housings designed specifically for our filters, offering reliable, efficient operation, extended filter life and easy maintenance. We offer standard, v-bank, side access, side access double flat and filter back configurations.

Meeting Stringent Requirements
Firing range air filtration presents two key challenges, centering on the protection of both people and equipment. In addition to removing hazardous contaminants generated by firearm discharge, air filtration systems must filter make-up air to protect HVAC equipment from outside contaminants.
In accordance with the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) Standard 52.2, make-up air should be filtered with a Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value (MERV) 14 filter. These should also be sized to provide optimal efficiency, with adequate sealing mechanisms compatible with the individual HVAC system.
Re-circulated or exhaust air must be filtered at the point of removal, using a minimum 99.97% High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filter, per the Institute of Environmental Sciences and Technology (IEST) recommended particle for HEPA/ULPA filters (IEST RP-CC001). To provide an extended life cycle of the HEPA filters, it's also recommended that HEPA filters be pre-filtered with a minimum of MERV 14 filters. Likewise, all filter sections should have pressure-measuring devices for filter maintenance.
